Spring Garden Quilt with Sandy (monthly)
January 4 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 10:00 am on day First of the month, repeating until May 29, 2020
First Saturday of the month, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm | Some quilting experience needed | $30 per class paid in 3-month increments ($90 every 3 months) | Six-month class
This is a class for those who have some quilting experience and are comfortable using a rotary cutter and their sewing machine. They probably have made one or maybe even a few quilts either from a pattern, have taken a beginner class, or have been taught by a next-door neighbor.
In this class, you will learn to do more complex quilting, including techniques for making a quilt where all the points are visible and ensuring the quilt hangs straight when it is finished. We will work with color and texture and following patterns and adapting them if you want to.
I will share with you all the secrets I have learned over my years from wonderful teachers, friends, as well as trial and error. We will try to undo any bad habit you have acquired while learning to quilt and unlike taking a class online by yourself, you will be part of a fun group and have the opportunity of sharing thoughts and ideas, and of course frustrations, as well as making new friends.
Any fabrics can be used, I chose to use the fabrics (most of them) from a collection from “In the Beginning” fabrics because it gave me the opportunity to combine color and texture to make a happy quilt.
I call it “Spring Garden,” but you could make a “Summer at the Sea Shore,” or “Fall in New England,” or even “Winter in the Adirondacks,” or some of the reproduction fabrics from the ’30s and ’40s — whatever direction you want to go.
We will meet on the 1st Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. starting on November 2nd. This will be a six-month class, but we can extend it if we wish. The cost of the class will be $30.00 per session and will be paid in three session intervals. This fee will cover the fee to the shop for the use of the classroom and my fee. A list with fabric requirements and other necessary supplies will be provided later in October.
Class size is limited. Call the shop at 401-337-5578 to register.
