Quilting is within everyone’s reach with basic instruction and a few important techniques from Deb Allard, a well-journeyed quilt artist of many years. -How to safely use a rotary cutter and quilter’s ruler with precision should you choose to cut fabrics OR you can purchase a jelly roll collection of 2.5” strips that come already die cut. ***jelly collections do a lot of the work for you….they come in color collections that have been designed with colorways and values
-How to choose fabrics for a simple project (a table runner – size of your choosing)
-How to attend your sewing machine to create superb stitches for piecing and quilting
-How to approach that quarter inch seam with precision
-How to press seams correctly for quilting
-How to align seams when/where needed
-How to sew over seams so they lay smooth and flat
-How to square your blocks for a secure fit before sewing them together
-How to cut your fabric for the backing and binding
-How to sew binding onto quilt and miter those corners for a clean fit
-How to hand sew the binding with clean hidden stitches
-How to make a happy quarter-inch topstitch to define your quilting
When you sign up for the class with your name and email, you’ll receive a list of materials needed. Also, please let the shop know whether you will need to use one of their sewing machines or you’ll bring your own.
