Free Motion Quilting With Deb
March 12, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

March 12 and 26, 1:00 to 4:00 pm | $35 each class plus $10 fabric/batting materials fee | Minimum three students
In this class, you will walk away with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to do free motion quilting on your lap quilts, baby quilts, wall hangings, table toppers, and other small projects using your home sewing machine.
March 12:
The class will be spent learning and practicing the elements of three simple free motion techniques, and learning when and where to use each one.
March 26:
You will prepare and bring to class at least four 12, 14, or 16 inch square quilt blocks from home that we can practice quilting on. They can be plain fabric squares, leftover blocks from other quilts you’ve created, or you can create simple 4 or 9 patch squares or a square rail fence blocks from strips.
In addition you will need at least a 48 inch square of cotton batting and fabric for the backing of each block sandwich. Any color will do. As a beginner consistency of depth in the cotton batting quilt sandwich is imperative, so NO polyester batting please.
Supplies needed:
- Sewing machine with the free motion pressure foot that comes with your machine. Or your machine does not have a free motion pressure foot, then a universal “Big Foot” presser foot can be purchased.
- Extra machine needles, size 11 and 12
- Four 12, 14, or 16 inch square quilt blocks
- Batting, backing fabric, and thread
