If you always wanted to try your hand at weaving, this is the perfect class for you. Using the Schacht Cricket loom, we will create a fabulous scarf using worsted weight yarn. Once you know the basics of weaving, you can make shawls, table linens, small bags, and more. Weaving is fun, rhythmic, and relaxing.
The goal of this class is to introduce you to the world of weaving. We will cover weaving vocabulary, how to warp the loom, and basic weaving techniques. Printed materials supporting the class discussion will be provided.
The class will be held in two sessions. The first session will include an introduction to the loom, basic weaving techniques, and warping the loom. You will also have plenty of time to ask questions and begin weaving your scarf. The second session will focus on completing your scarf. Also included in this session is a discussion on design and also planning for your next project (as we know you’ll be hooked!).
If you don’t have a loom, rentals are available at the shop. Also, be sure to choose your worsted weight two-ply yarn before the class so you’ll be good to go. The wonderful folks at Knit One Quilt Too can help you with your selection.
